When You Hear Crackling, Don’t look in the Pot!

I was trying to burn off the liquid for a recipe that I was testing for the Instant Pot 1-2-3-4-5 Pork Ribs while trying to set up the photo area for this blog. I had just set up lights and turned off the overhead lights when I heard crackling, popping sounds coming from the Instant Pot. Confused, because the last time I looked, there was still a lot of excess liquid in the pot, I make two stupid mistakes: 1) I didn’t turn the overhead light back on. 2) I looked in the Instant Pot to see what was going on. And that was when I felt something splatter on my forehead … and burn! Luckily, the splatter didn’t hit my eyes! But it did cause peeling skin on my forehead. Sigh… Yes, I know …. I’m a dummy in the kitchen!

forehead burn

Apparently the liquid burned off much faster than I expected. Or maybe time flies when one is busy… And no, sadly, the 1-2-3-4-5 pork rib did not turn out in the Instant Pot.
