Growing up in Texas, we didn’t have changing of leaves to remind us that it’s fall. Instead, we had the State Fair! Every year, kids would get one free State Fair ticket from the schools. We only went once during my elementary years. I actually don’t remember much of it anymore… just the turkey legs. Huge turkey legs. Bigger than your head turkey legs. Anyways, living out in California, there’s no State Fair – at least not one close by. But you can have your own State Fair Air FryerTurkey Legs at home!
TIPS FOR THE CRISPIEST, JUICIEST AIR FRYER TURKEY LEGS
- Make sure to pat the turkey legs as dry as you can to get the crispiest legs possible! Dry brining, where you salt the legs and leave them uncovered in the fridge overnight, works great to get the legs even drier before air frying. We prefer keeping foods, especially raw foods, covered in the fridge so choose the patting dry method.
- We cook the turkey legs until the meat thermometer reaches 160F. After resting for 5 minutes, it reaches 165F! Watch the temperature to prevent overcooking and drying out the meat!
